A Penzance painting and decorating student will be building on his success after winning second prize in the regional heat of the Johnstone’s Young Painter of the Year competition. Penwith College student Tom Nowells from Heamore, Penzance competed in the south west heat held at Bournemouth and Poole College in Dorset against strong competition from 17 other competitiors from colleges including Exeter, Plymouth, Bath, Poole and the Isle of Wight.
Now in its third year, the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards is well established as one of the leading training awards in the South West. Hosts Truro and Penwith College are again on the hunt for both Apprentices and Employers that are demonstrating outstanding achievement and commitment to Apprenticeships, and this week opened nominations via the website www.truro-penwith.ac.uk/CornwallApprenticeshipAwards.
Performance students are ending their academic year with a Shakespearean encore, giving friends, parents and the public a chance to see what the first and second years have been up to in their time at College, and giving them the opportunity to showcase the skills they have developed on their course.
