WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Modules follow the Health Education England Curriculum Framework for Nursing Associates and include practical elements to test students’ learning. Graduates are equipped to work in a wide range of settings, including acute care, and community and continuing services.
Year 1
• Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology (30 credits)
• Delivering and Monitoring Planned Care 1 (30 credits)
• Individual Health & Well-Being (30 credits)
• Professional and Academic Development (30 credits)
Year 2
• Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology (30 credits)
• Pathophysiology: Illness and its impact upon individuals (15 credits)
• Delivering and Monitoring Planned Care 1 (30 credits)
• Recognising and Managing Individual Needs (30 credits)
• Delivering and Monitoring Planned Care 2 (30 credits)
• Professional and Academic Development (30 credits)
• Role Transition (30 credits)
• Medicines Management (15 credits)
WHERE WILL IT TAKE ME?
This course will enable you to further your career with your employer, as a qualified Nursing Associate and, if you choose, to then go on to train as a Registered Nurse. Our curriculum is approved by the Nursing & Midwifery Council and, on successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to register with the NMC as a Nursing Associate.
Assessment Arrangements
Your course will involve training in clinical practice through a combination of short and longer placements in a range of health settings, nursing fields and across the lifespan to give you a broad experience and understanding of working as a Nursing Associate. Some of these placements can be provided by your employer and you will also have access to our extensive network of partners for external placements where needed.
Entry Requirements
 From the start of your apprenticeship, you will need to be employed full-time (30 hours or more per week) in an appropriate healthcare setting where you can train as a Nursing Associate
If you are not already employed in a health or social care setting, you should contact NHS Trusts and other healthcare organisations in your area to check if they are recruiting nursing associate apprentices
You will need to hold a minimum of Level 2 mathematics and English qualifications on entry.
These can be GCSEs (or acceptable international equivalents) or Functional Skills
You will also need a Level 3 qualification or Under some circumstances, we will accept two years of employment in a relevant health or social care setting.
Examples of eligible Level 3 qualifications include:
- A-Level
- BTEC National Diploma (pass) or Certificate (merit)
- Advanced or higher apprenticeship in health and social care
- NVQ (subject-related)

You will have access to our Learning Resource centres and fantastic tutors, they will support you throughout your course, ensuring you have what you need to succeed
Additional Information
The course fees are shared between the government and employers, further costs may include (but are not limited to):
- Resources: you may need to purchase books for your studies, as well as specific computer software (estimate, £150 per year)
- Memberships: applying for membership of a professional body at the end of the course may incur further costs.
