Jewellery
Monday or Tuesday
Design and create your own ring in silver, make a unique bangle in copper or pierce out a silhouette of an animal or a flower in brass. This workshop will enable you to explore simple jewellery making techniques allowing you to create something quite unique for yourself or a friend.
Mask Making
Monday
Join one of our artists to create your own large carnival-style mask using sustainable, recycled materials. Explore global mask-making traditions while designing your own unique mask. Taking inspiration from animal heads, folk traditions and other more contemporary masks in popular culture, everyone will be able to take the theme of their mask in any direction they choose. Learn how to build a secure, comfortable frame, then unleash your creativity to craft a one-of-a-kind piece.
Textiles
Tuesday
In this fun textile skills-based workshop you will make a personalised fabric sketchbook cover. Learning how to add colour and line to fabric you will explore a range of textile techniques to include appliqué, free motion embroidery and embellishment. All materials and resources are included and, wherever possible, recycled!
Pottery/Ceramics
Wednesday or Friday
We will start by exploring different textures and surfaces, please bring something with you to work from. These textures will be transferred to clay slabs. You will be taught the technique of slab building to build your chosen style of pot, be it a mug, a jug, a desk tidy or vase. You will then decorate your pot with coloured glazes. Through this hands-on ceramics workshop you’ll find out how far your creativity and ideas can take you.
Digital Drawing
Wednesday
This introduction to digital drawing provides learners with the opportunity to experiment with both traditional and digital drawing techniques. Using Adobe Photoshop, you will learn how to combine these different ways of working to produce a range of illustrations/designs to be made into a decorative repeat pattern.
Printmaking
Thursday
Using patterns and designs you can experience screen printing and make your own calico tote bag along with a series of prints to compliment it. You will be able to use botanical, geometric, natural and text-based design elements to build your own artworks on fabric and card. Throughout the day you will have multiple opportunities to use several different screens and designs as you develop your skills as a printer.
